Green wishes for the Year 2010

It is a pleasure to share the eventful happenings at Paharpur Business Centre & Software Technology Incubator Park (PBC).

Through our earlier issues, it is known how PBC has made Corporate Social Responsibility an integral part of its business process, consistently contributing to the social & environmental causes.

While PBC has played a pioneering role in revolutionizing the office facilities and conferencing concept, its environmental practices & endeavors have received widespread appreciation. In fact, PBC has been recognized with awards for energy conversation, water efficiency, corporate social responsibility and entrepreneurship.

PBC is energy efficient facility and has been able to reduce energy consumption by 60%. It has an outstanding Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) system to ‘grow fresh air’, which is being validated by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. We expect the building to be US LEED (EB) Platinum certified by mid 2010.

Rapid urbanisation and construction of buildings have impacted the environment and contributed to climate change.

There are many unidentified cleantech technologies that can be applied to buildings to reduce carbon footprints and operating costs. We need to discover these technologies and reduce the energy consumed by buildings from currently 40% of world's energy to a much lower number.

We are developing “GreenSpacesTM’, a Flagship Project’ for the Asia Pacific Partnership, which will be the World’s most energy efficient commercial building. GreenSpaces has achieved 74.4% energy reduction compared to conventional ‘A’ grade building and aims to achieve 80%. This will demonstrate that the 40% number can come down to less than 8%.
